Bodies for Water

Film concept, script-writing, and direction. Bodies for Water was a project selected to be produced in Columbia University's Architecture department.

“The voices of water are hardly metaphoric at all; the language of water is a direct poetic reality,” Philosopher Gaston Bachelard wrote. He continues, speaking about the ephemeral, ever-changing nature of both humans and water, stating, “the human being shares the destiny of flowing water.”

Conversely, when we consider architecture, when we consider great buildings large or small, we rarely consider their adaptability and movement. Great buildings are meant to stand still. Intimidate, disembody, often. Yet buildings, just like water, are vessels for the imagination and, like bodies, the way we relate to them has changed over time. This three minute film study, a project selected for production at Columbia University, entitled “Bodies for Water” examines our changing relationship with water, the most ancient resource of all.
